Account & Privacy
How signing in works, what data we store, and how to control your privacy settings.
Signing in
From Our Table uses Google Sign-In for authentication. There is no separate username or password to create or remember — sign in with the Google account you use every day.
- Click Sign in with Google on the home page or nav bar.
- Choose your Google account and grant the requested permissions.
- On your first sign-in you'll be prompted to create or join a family.
You already use Gmail and Google Photos. Sign in to From Our Table with the same account — no new password to remember, no email verification to wait for. You're in within seconds.
To sign out, click your name or avatar in the nav bar and select Sign out. Your data remains safely stored and is accessible the next time you sign back in.
Your profile
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. These are displayed to other members of your family groups within the app — for example, next to recipe ratings you submit.
- Your profile photo comes from your Google account. To change it, update your Google profile photo.
- Your name is displayed as provided by Google. It is visible to your family members.
- Your email address is used to send family invitation emails and is visible to family owners.
Analytics & cookies
From Our Table uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which features are popular, where people get stuck, and how to improve the experience. This data is collected only with your explicit consent.
- When you first visit, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of the screen.
- Accept — analytics data (pages visited, session duration, device type) is collected. No advertising data is ever collected.
- Decline — no analytics data is collected. The site works identically either way.
Withdrawing consent: To withdraw consent after accepting, clear your browser's local storage for this site (browser Settings → Privacy → Site data → find fromthetable.com → Clear). The consent banner will reappear on your next visit.
You accept analytics when you first visit. Six months later you change your mind — clear the site's local storage in your browser settings and Decline the banner next time it appears. Your recipes and account are completely unaffected.
See our Privacy Policy for full details on what is and isn't collected.
Your data & Sage
All recipes, menus, ratings, and family data you create are stored in Microsoft Azure (Cosmos DB and Blob Storage). Your data is not sold to third parties.
When you use Sage features — photo import, URL import, recipe pairings, Day Of planning, or shopping list consolidation — the relevant recipe or menu content is sent to Azure OpenAI to generate the response. This content is:
- Processed in real time to generate the result
- Not used to train AI models
- Subject to Microsoft's Azure OpenAI data privacy terms
When you click "Ask Sage for pairings" on your roast chicken recipe, the recipe's title, ingredients, and steps are sent to Azure OpenAI, which returns pairing suggestions. Nothing from that interaction is stored beyond the suggestions shown to you.
Removing your data
From Our Table does not currently have a self-service account deletion flow. To have your data removed:
- Leave a family: Ask a family Owner to remove you from the family. Your contributions (recipes, ratings) will remain in the family collection.
- Delete specific content: You can delete any recipe, menu, or rating you created directly within the app.
- Full account deletion: Contact a family Owner or site administrator to request complete removal of your account and associated personal data.
Analytics data retained by Google is subject to Google's own retention and deletion policies. Declining or withdrawing analytics consent stops future collection but does not retroactively delete previously collected data.
