What's New

Everything added and improved in From Our Table — newest first.

Version 1.2 May 2026

Ask Sage, recipe generation, Cooking Mode, ingredient reordering, and smarter pairings.

Ask Sage

  • Ask anything about a recipe — a new Ask Sage panel is available on every recipe detail page. Open it and ask Sage anything: substitutions, technique, timing, scaling, dietary tweaks, or what went wrong last time you made it.
  • Conversational — Sage remembers the thread of your questions within the session, so you can follow up naturally without repeating yourself.
  • Formatted responses — Sage's answers render with full markdown formatting: bold text, numbered steps, bullet lists, and code blocks all display cleanly.

Sage recipe generation

  • Generate with Sage — a new tab on the Add Recipe page lets you describe any dish and have Sage write the full recipe for you. Title, description, ingredients, and steps all land in the form ready to edit and save.

Cooking Mode

  • Cook button — every recipe detail page now has a Cook button that adds the recipe to Cooking Mode.
  • Tab-based cooking interface — Cooking Mode shows all your active recipes as tabs so you can switch between a main dish and its sides without losing your place.
  • Scaling controls — adjust serving sizes (½×, 1×, 2×, 3×) per recipe while you cook. Ingredient amounts update instantly.
  • Persistent — your Cooking Mode recipe list survives browser restarts, so you can step away mid-cook and pick up exactly where you left off.

Ingredient reordering

  • Ingredients can now be reordered on both the Add and Edit recipe pages using drag-and-drop or the up/down arrow buttons — the same way steps work.

Smarter recipe pairings

  • Pairing type chips — alongside "Ask Sage for pairings," you can now click a chip to ask for a specific type: Side dish, Sauce, Appetizer, Dessert, Bread, or Salad. Sage focuses exclusively on that category.
  • Drink pairings (optional) — a new family setting (Settings tab, owners only) lets families opt in to drink pairing suggestions. Defaults to off.
Version 1.1 April 2026

Recipe linking, smarter Sage notes, and step reordering.

Recipe linking

  • Goes well with — recipes can now be linked together. Linked recipes appear as cards in a "Goes well with" section on the recipe detail page, making it easy to navigate from a main dish to its sauce, side, or dessert and back.
  • Bidirectional — linking two recipes connects them both ways automatically. Remove the link from either side and the other updates too.
  • Search picker — when editing a recipe, search your collection by name to add any number of linked recipes.
  • Auto-link on import — when importing multiple recipes in a single session with Review mode on, a "Link recipes together" toggle lets you connect them automatically as they're saved. Useful for a cake and its frosting, or a stock and the dish that uses it.

Smarter Sage notes

  • Faithful extraction — when importing a recipe, Sage now extracts notes directly from labeled sections in the source (Notes, Tips, Cook's Notes, Make-Ahead, Storage, Variations, and introductory commentary). Sage no longer generates notes that weren't in the original recipe.
  • Sage note badge — if Sage contributes a note that goes beyond what appeared in a labeled section, it's marked with a Sage badge so you can tell at a glance what came from the original recipe and what Sage added.
  • Note limit — Sage is capped at three inferred notes per recipe. All notes extracted directly from the source are always kept in full.

Step reordering

  • Steps can now be reordered on both the Add and Edit recipe pages using drag-and-drop or the up/down arrow buttons beside each step.

Multi-tag filtering

  • Select multiple tags at once — the tag filter panel now lets you pick as many tags as you like. Results narrow to recipes that match all selected tags.
  • Active tags appear as removable chips inside the panel. Remove individual tags with the × button or clear them all at once.
  • The filter accordion header shows how many tags are active ("2 selected") so you always know a filter is on even when the panel is collapsed.
Version 1.0 April 2026

The first full release of From Our Table. Here's everything that's in it.

Recipes

  • Add by hand — title, description, servings, ingredients, steps, tags, nutrition, and images all in one form.
  • Import from a URL — paste a link and Sage extracts the recipe automatically. The source URL is saved but the full recipe is stored so it's never lost if the original site disappears.
  • Import from photos or PDF — take a photo of a recipe card or cookbook page (even multi-page recipes) and Sage reads it for you. Supports cropping and rotation before import.
  • Servings adjuster — scale any recipe up or down; ingredient amounts update instantly.
  • Tags & autocomplete — AI-suggested tags plus your own; autocomplete shows tags already used by your family.
  • Ratings — rate recipes across Overall, Taste, and Ease of Preparation. Family averages are shown on every recipe.
  • Version history — every saved edit creates a snapshot. Browse past versions, preview them, and restore with one click.
  • Publish pinning — when a recipe is shared, choose exactly which version other families see while you keep editing privately.
  • Images — upload, drag-and-drop, paste, or capture from your camera. Images are stored securely and shown in a photo carousel.
  • Nutrition facts — optional per-serving nutrition panel on each recipe.
  • AI-generated descriptions — if a recipe has no description, Sage writes one automatically on import.

Sharing

  • Family-only (default) — recipes are private to your family.
  • Share with specific families — connect with another family using a private sharing code, then choose exactly which recipes they can see. Shared recipes appear in their recipe list and search.
  • Sharing codes — each family has a unique code you exchange out of band (text, email). Optional name-discovery lets other families find you by name once connected.
  • Revoke sharing — disconnect a family at any time, with the option to remove all recipe sharing in one step.
  • Ownership badge — a badge on the recipe detail page shows when you're viewing a recipe shared from another family.

Sage AI

  • Photo & PDF import — multi-page support, automatic recipe detection, and description generation.
  • URL import — scrapes and structures any publicly accessible recipe page.
  • Complementary pairings — on any recipe detail page, Sage suggests dishes that would go well with it. Suggestions come from your own collection first, with original Sage recipes offered when the collection doesn't have a great match.
  • Shopping list consolidation — Sage merges duplicate ingredients across recipes, converts quantities to practical retail sizes, and groups everything by supermarket department.
  • Day Of planner — Sage reads your entire menu and builds a reverse-engineered cooking timeline so every dish is ready at the same time, accounting for oven conflicts and make-ahead steps.
  • Tag suggestions — Sage suggests relevant tags when you save a recipe.

Menus & Planning

  • Menu planner — collect recipes into a named menu for any event. Set servings per recipe independently.
  • Guest management — add guests to a menu from your family contacts list or by entering details directly.
  • Shopping list — one-tap generation of a grouped, consolidated shopping list for all recipes on a menu. Water and other pantry assumptions are automatically excluded.
  • Day Of planner — set your event date and time and let Sage build a step-by-step countdown for the entire menu.
  • Shareable menu page — generate a link for guests to view the menu and recipes without needing an account.
  • Archive — archive past menus to keep your active list tidy.

Family & Account

  • Multiple families — belong to as many families as you like and switch between them from the nav bar. Switching takes you straight to that family's table.
  • Invitations — owners can invite members by email. Invitation links are sent via email and expire after seven days.
  • Roles — Owners manage the family; Members can add, edit, and delete recipes freely.
  • Family contacts — save a reusable list of guests for event planning.
  • Locations & equipment — record your kitchens and the equipment in each. Sage uses this when building Day Of timelines.
  • Google sign-in — sign in with your Google account; no separate password needed.

Help

  • Full help system covering Recipes, Menus, Sage AI, Family, and Account & Privacy — available to all visitors, signed in or not.
